Styling changes and revised model grades highlight the updated Alfa Romeo Giulietta hatchback range which goes on-sale on 1 October.

Headlining the new range (which now follows Alfa Romeo’s international model nomenclature) is the return of the iconic ‘Veloce’ model as the range-topper.

Alfa says the new exterior look shows a link to the all-new Giulia sedan and includes new-design alloy wheels. Inside there are new seat trims and finishes.

Under the bonnet, the entry level model (now called Giulietta Super) scores a more powerful (110kW/250Nm) turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine which is also more fuel-efficient than its predecessor (5.5l/100kms combined-cycle).

Just a slight price rise for the entry-level model – to $29,990 (plus on-road costs), the mid-grade Giulietta Super TCT is stickered at $34,900 (plus on-road costs) while the sporty Veloce will set you back $41,900 (plus on-road costs) which is actually $100 less than the outgoing range-topper the QV.
