Nissan's V8 Supercar series challenger, based on the upcoming Altima family car, has hit the track for early testing ahead of next year's championship.

Nissan Motorsport boss and team owner Todd Kelly was the first to punt the new racer around Calder, with further testing to be carried out over the coming months.

"The car feels unbelievable, sounds unbelievable,"  Kelly said. "This is the result of everything we've designed and worked for this year, so to see it hit the track... it's not until this point that you can really sign off on the components we've made."

"If today goes well, we can look at putting all four cars into production."

Nathan Pretty will step in to continue testing while the Kelly brothers focus on finishing up their 2012 schedule as Commodore drivers.

The video shown here follows the Altima V8 Supercar's unveiling in Melbourne earlier this week, offering fans their first official look at Nissan Motorsport's 2013 entry.

Decked out in a Nissan livery, the car will wear the former Kelly Racing's Jack Daniel's livery, with the brand's sponsorship of the team set to continue into 2013.
