Another year, another Australian Touring Car Championship trophy for Jamie Whincup and the Red Bull Racing V8 Supercar team.

Whincup dominated the 2014 championship, finishing 583 points clear of second-placed Shane Van Gisbergen, who in turn was just 13 points clear of Mark Winterbottom in third.

That means six championships in seven years for Whincup and the Triple Eight team, making him the most successful driver in the ATCC’s history in terms of championship crowns.

Whincup also went close in 2007 and 2010, meaning the now-complete 2014 season could well have been his eighth championship victory.

As Volvo was unlikely to have been chasing a championship in its debut season, the team will no doubt be pleased with the pace of its S60 Polestar racers throughout the year.

Volvo’s lead driver Scott McLaughlin finished the championship in fifth, and capped off a great year by claiming pole position for the final race of 2014.

Nissan also broke into the top-ten for 2014, with driver Michael Caruso claiming tenth in the championship.
