Mazda has taken the covers of its updated 2017 Mazda3 hatch and sedan range, revealing revised styling and new technologies, including the recently announced G-Vectoring Control system.

The updated Mazda3 range will go on sale in Australia in August, with Australian specifications to be revealed closer to the launch of the refreshed range.

In Japanese specification, the new 3, which wears the Axela badge in its home market, will pick up advanced features, such as Traffic Sign Recognition to identify speed signs, as well as No Entry and Stop signs.

Mazda’s Advanced Smart City Brake Support has also been updated with pedestrian detection between 10 km/h and 80 km/h, and an operating range for vehicle detection expanded from the previous 4-30 km/h range, up to a maximum 80 km/h.

On high-spec models adaptive LED headlights are also now available, with automatic oncoming vehicle detection that can dim the headlight unit’s four individual LED blocks to prevent dazzling at speeds above 40 km/h, while Highway Mode automatically raises the headlight beams above 95 km/h to increase distance visibility.
