Ford has given its medium Mondeo hatch and wagon range a light tweak for 2017, with new alloy wheels and the latest Sync 3 infotainment system deployed to continue growing interest in Ford’s family car range.
Larger diameter alloy wheels have been added to most models, with the range-topping Titanium adding new 19-inch alloy wheels in place from the previous 18-inch alloys while the Trend picks up 18-inch alloys over the previous 17s. The entry level Ambiente hatch moves to 17-inch alloys, to match those already available on the Ambinete wagon.
"An increase in wheel size provides Mondeo a sure-footed dynamic stance that matches the chassis' outstanding roadholding," according to Todd Willing, Ford Asia-Pacific design director.
"The new wheels not only help the visual balance of Mondeo, but work in conjunction with the body's elegant lines for a premium yet sporty appearance. It's a slick combination."
Inside buyers will have access to the latest Sync 3 infotainment system, with a redesigned on-screen layout Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and support for apps including Spotify, Pandora and Google Maps.
Mechanically the updated Mondeo remains as before, with a 149kW/345Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine in the Ambiente, or a high-output 177kW/345Nm version available in the Trend and Ambiente - or a 132kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel TDCi optional across the range.
A new metallic paint colour, Metalicious Silver, has also been added to the range, described by Todd Willing as “a warm tinted clear-coat silver with a high degree of colour flip.”
Pricing moves up slightly, with a $500 rise for the Titanium and Trend, while the Ambiente remains unchanged.
