According to CEO Elon Musk, Tesla Motors, the California-based electric car upstart, will build at least 500,000 vehicles annually by 2020.

And if Musk can make good on his plans to develop Tesla’s self-driving technology to the point “that a car can be summoned from a garage”, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick apparently wants to take them all.

According to Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson, Kalanick made the boast during an address at the recent ‘Top Ten Tech Trends’ dinner in Santa Clara, California.

Kalanick, Jurvetson reported, boasted that if Tesla can achieve its goal of producing half-a-million fully-autonomous cars in five years, he will purchase the whole lot for his Uber ride-sharing service.
