Toyota has released a second teaser for its upcoming Hybrid R concept, just weeks out from its Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling.

The new shot, more revealing than before, offers a first look at the car itself, hinting at what looks to be a heavily modified and powered-up Yaris hatch.

Wearing the usual concept-only futurstic styling, the Hybrid R draws some styling cues from the Yaris Hybrid already available in overseas markets.

Common between the concept and its Yaris Hybrid forebear are the large headlights, slender deep-V grille design and the gaping air-dam design.

Of course, as a concept, the Hybrid R gets a number of unique features, including blue accents and lighting, and tall wide-open intakes flanking the main grille.

Technical details for the new concept are still to come, although it is known that power will be provided by a hybrid system based on Toyota's Le Mans-challenging TS030 Hybrid race car.

Pairing an electric system with an internal combustion engine, it is believed the Hybrid R concept will churn out a massive 298kW.

So, not the Supra that fans will have been hoping for - but not quite an outright disappointment, either. And possibly a preview of a production Yaris hot-hatch.

Watch for more details to come at Frankfurt.
