Yearn for the days of the Corolla Sportivo, when Toyota's volume-selling hatch could be had in a (mildly) exciting form? Toyota's youth-targeted US offshoot Scion may have the antidote in its iM Concept.
Scheduled to appear at next week's LA Motor Show, the Scion iM Concept is based on the European-market Auris hatch, which itself is largely identical to our Corolla hatchback.
The "concept" features mostly standard Corolla/Auris sheetmetal, augmented by race-inspired front and rear bumpers, bulging wheelarches, 19-inch alloy racing wheels and a lowered suspension. A larger brake package completes the race-inspired image.
