Toyota's prestige offspring Lexus is sending a new luxury concept to Detroit next month, and now the parent has released a teaser image for its own show-bound concept.

No surprise that the carmaker is holding back on all of the juicy details, but for now it is known that the concept is called "NS4," and it utilises a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain.

If it's anything like the upcoming Prius PHEV, the concept will combine a lithium-ion battery with an electric motor and the regular Prius hybrid's 1.8 litre petrol engine. Fuel consumption for the Prius PHEV is listed at an ultra-low 2.2 l/100km.

The teaser image revals that the NS4 could carry a look similar to the Lexus concept, with back-set headlights, aluminium body highlights and a deep red colour scheme.

For now, that's all there is. Watch this space for more.
