Toyota has revealed its hand for the upcoming Nurburgring 24 Hour race, offering a first glimpse at the new Toyota GRMN Sport Hybrid Concept II.

Set to debut at the Nurburgring-hosted event this weekend, the MR2-based GRMN Sport Hybrid Concept II is powered by a 185kW 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine driving the rear wheels.

There is also a pair of electric motors at the front wheels, pushing total output to 220kW.

The origin of the new concept's acronymic name is Gazoo Racing (an outfit that Toyota has teamed up with more than once), tuned by Meister of Nurburgring.

The latter part of the name comes in homage to Hiromu Naruse, the Gazoo boss and Toyota chief test driver that died during pre-production testing of the Lexus LFA supercar.

Little else has been revealed at this stage, although Toyota is likely to reveal the full run of details this weekend.
