A few days after Toyota’s all-new compact SUV broke through at the Geneva Motor Show, the carmaker’s Australian arm has confirmed the model is headed our way.

Due to arrive early next year, the C-HR SUV will give Toyota a player in the booming compact SUV market, which saw sales grow more than 27 percent last year.

While the addition of a compact SUV to the line-up will come as little surprise to Toyota fans, the chosen powerplant for the new model could raise some eyebrows with Toyota opting for a turbocharged petrol engine.

Currently, the Toyota range in Australia is devoid of any turbocharged petrol engine so the C-HR will not only represent a new direction, it could attract a new type of customer to the brand.
