In response to claims that Japanese motoring giant Toyota are creating unexciting cars following the axing of the Supra, Celica and the more recent MR2, Toyota have launched a “Committee to create interesting cars”.

Hot on the heels of this committee being announced comes this, the Toyota Blade Master G.

Toyota market the ‘Blade’ as an up market version of the Corolla, or the ‘Auris’ as it is known as in all parts of the world except Australia and New Zealand.

In the ‘Master G’ version of the Blade, happy new owners will find the same 3.5 Litre V6 that powers the Lexus RX 350 nestled between the strut towers and mated to an intelligent 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The Master G also benefits from an up-rated version of the wishbone based rear-suspension that we don’t see in Australian Corollas. Power is a comfortable 206KW with 344Nm of torque.

The Blade goes on sale today in Japan for a cool 3,234,000 million yen ($32,000 AUD), and although we don’t often see the seriously kooky Japanese performance cars, it is reported that the Master G will be sold in Europe and possibly North America.

A visit to our shores may not be out of the question but I wouldn’t hold my breath...
