The revived Tickford performance hot-shop has revealed its first take on the iconic Ford Mustang with a pair of power upgrade packages to boost power and torque from Ford’s iconic pony car.

Buyers of the Mustang EcoBoost can opt for the 270 Power Pack, which lifts engine outputs by 37kW and an impressive 108Nm for a total of 270kW and a V8-rivalling 540Nm - 10Nm more than the standard V8 Mustang.

“The Mustang EcoBoost is becoming a popular choice and our equivalent 270 Power Pack powertrain package will give owners a significant uplift in overall vehicle performance,” Tickford’s director of performance parts, Tony Harris said

“We believe it will also attract customers to the EcoBoost variant who like the idea of a smaller capacity and more efficient engine, but have been waiting for a performance boost.

V8-powered Mustang GT owners are offered the 360 Power Pack, which adds 55kW of power and 55Nm of torque for a total output of 360kW and 585Nm.

Both enhancement kits include a cold air intake, ECU recalibration, quad cat-back exhaust and a bespoke rear diffuser and are priced at $6990 including fitting.

“Mustang owners are real vehicle enthusiasts so we wanted to ensure Tickford’s first release of personalisation options captured their enjoyment of driving and enhanced it,” Mr Harris said.

“Our aim was to not only deliver generous increases in power and torque, but also create a unique exhaust note which was strong and deep, yet was suitable for daily driving as well.”

Owners looking for a richer exhaust note without the power increase can pick up the cat-back exhaust and rear diffuser as standalone options, featuring a 2.5-inch system for the EcoBoost and 3.0-inch system for the Mustang GT priced at $3990 including fitting.

A Tickford ride and handling package and interior and styling upgrades are also on the horizon for the Mustang.

A prototype shown in October last year highlights some of the potential exterior styling upgrades that Tickford will offer; these include carbon fibre additions to its bumpers and side skirts, as well as a carbon fibre spoiler and matte black racing stripes.

Tickford upgrades for the Ford Ranger were unveiled last October, with the powertrain upgrades claimed to increase power by 15 per cent and torque by 20 per cent. For 2017 Tickford has also added a 2.5-inch stainless steel cat-back side-exit exhaust system for the Ranger priced at $2490 including fitting.

Tickford’s warranty also covers modifications for the balance of the new vehicle warranty on any modified vehicle.
