The Week That Was – Volkswagen Golf GTI 40 Years | PSA Push To Pass | Jeep Wrangler Pickup

Volkswagen Australia confirmed this week it will bring the most powerful production Golf GTI ever, the Golf GTI 40 Years Edition (also known in Europe as the Golf GTI Clubsport, pictured) to local showrooms in June this year with an attractive $48,990 retail price.

Boasting more power than a Golf R - 213kW with overboost (active at full throttle for ten seconds at a time), 195kW without - and just as much torque (380Nm), the front-drive Golf GTI 40 Years Edition will be one of Volkswagen's fastest road cars ever sold here.

A quick-shifting six-speed DSG automatic will be standard-fit, however thanks to the absence of all-wheel-drive, the GTI 40 Years Edition won't be able to match the Golf R for standing-start acceleration.

Groupe PSA announced this week that it is building a new ute/pickup model, destined to wear Peugeot badges. 

Formerly PSA Peugeot Citroen, the name-change to Groupe PSA is accompanied by a new five-year business plan called “Push To Pass”, which includes plans for the new ute.

Overall, 34 new vehicles will be rolled out over the next five years, including 26 new passenger cars, and eight commercial vehicles.
