TMR announced the big one this week; our 2013 Best Buy Award Winner.

The winner for 2013 is priced from $32,880 with all-wheel-drive and six-speed auto as standard, along with space for a family, supple on-road comfort, a smart appealing interior and equally appealing on-road dynamics.

Drumroll… it’s the Mazda CX-5 Maxx 2.5 litre SkyActiv. Check out how it stacked up against the competition.


Subaru officially unveiled its new WRX STI at the Detroit Auto Show this week.

The 2015 STI is again powered by a turbocharged 2.5 litre four-cylinder boxer petrol engine, producing 227kW and 393Nm of torque with manual-only transmission (good news for the purists).

Later in the week, a rendered two-door version appeared online, prompting nostalgic thoughts of the STI 22B.

Lexus revealed key performance specifications for its new RC F performance coupe this week, following its debut at the Detroit Auto Show.

An all-new 5.0 litre engine is promised, but all Lexus will reveal for now is that the new powerplant will be good for more than 330kW and 520Nm.

The Japanese carmaker also released images of its new RC F sporting the optional Carbon Package.


In other news, Hyundai confirmed its new Genesis sedan is coming to Australia at the end of this year.


Infiniti released pricing and features for its new Q50 premium sedan, with a special $55,990 drive-away price for the entry-level GT from February to April. The muscular Eau Rouge version of the Q50 was also unveiled in Detroit this week.


Chrysler unveiled its new 200 sedan this week, with a new nine-speed auto being the only transmission option.


The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept was revealed in Detroit, with Nissan confirming later in the week that the concept would definitely be built in some capacity.


Audi gave us a taste of its next TT model this week, with the Allroad Shooting Brake concept.


The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 also got an official unveiling, packing a 466kW punch from its 6.2 litre supercharged V8 engine.


And Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone quit the F1 board, following news of his upcoming court hearing on bribery charges.


We also spied the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK under test, ahead of an expected debut late this year.


Chrysler’s Mopar division announced a celebration year marking the 50th anniversary of the legendary Mopar Gen II 426 Race HEMI V8 engine.
