One of 2014’s most anticipated cars was unveiled this week, when the covers finally came off the all-new Mazda MX-5.

The new model is 100kg lighter than its predecessor, although exactly how this affects performance is unknown as Mazda is remaining tight-lipped on engine details for now.

Australian customers will have to wait at least a year to take delivery of the new model but with pricing tipped to start under the $40,000 barrier, the wait might be worth it.

The first of Lexus’ NX SUV range is scheduled to arrive in Australia in October, and the Japanese carmaker confirmed pricing and features this week.

A front-wheel-drive ‘Luxury’ version will kick-off the new NX 300h range with prices starting from $55,000 plus on-roads, rising to $75,000 for the AWD ‘Sports Luxury’ model.

A 2.5 litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor produces 145kW in the 2WD model, while AWD models get an additional electric motor powering the rear wheels.
