Tesla Australia has streamlined its Model S premium sedan range for 2016, with a four-model line-up powered by the 70 or 90kWh battery packs.

Upon launching in Australia, the electric vehicle-maker offered 60, 80 and 85kWh battery packs in the Model S, but now the last of the ‘originals’ - the 85 - has joined the 60 and 80 models in the pages of history.

As a commenter on Twitter pointed out to TMR, his P85 is "already a collector's item...".

The Model S 70 (with 70kW battery pack) is now the entry-level offering, available in either single-motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive.

Pricing for the 70 starts from $111,400, while adding the second electric motor for the 70D bumps the price to $118,900; plus on-road costs.

Maximum range for the 70 is rated at 420km, while the 70D can be stretched to 442km between charges. Accessible power is rated at 235kW/400Nm for the 70 and 245kW/525Nm for the 70D.
