Tesla has issued a recall in Australia this week, targeting both of its current EV offerings.
A total of 324 cars are on the recall list for Australia.
The electric carmaker says the park brake may not fully release when commanded to do so by the driver. Should the driver need to move with haste, a hazard may be present.
A small gear used in the mechanism has presented a weakness, and should the gear break the park brake may become immovable.
Tesla says no such incidents have been reported in Australia to date, and the recall is aimed at ensuring no issues arise from the problem. Further, the vehicle’s regular braking system is not affected by this issue.
The recall process will see the offending gear replaced and an inspection of the park brake system.
Tesla will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact Tesla Australia on 1800 646 952 or via email.
