A week from now, Tesla will unveil… we have no idea what.

Posting from his personal twitter account today, Tesla founder Elon Musk shared the above teaser image and a cryptic hint.

“About time to unveil the D and something else”.

Now, crude gags aside, just what can we expect when Musk unveils his D?

Unless Tesla has decided to re-brand its new entry-level sedan, confirmed recently as the ‘Model 3’, it won’t be that.

Going by the photo alone, however, we might expect to see a modified version of the brand’s Model S flagship.

A performance upgrade? The top-spec Model S P85 already offers a hearty 310kW, but Tesla could be preparing a new powered-up and even more sporting model aimed specifically at BMW’s M5 and the Mercedes-AMG E 63.

Whatever Tesla is planning, we’ll see it on October 9.
