Tesla has introduced a new way for Model S owners in Australia to charge their electric vehicles away from home, further combating the issue of ‘range anxiety’.

We say ‘new’, but it’s the same way many Model S owners currently charge their EVs while parked at home.

The carmaker is launching its Destination Charging Program this week, which enables Tesla owners to access High Power Wall Units (such as many have at home) when away from home.

Though early days in the program, over ten entities have now 'signed on' by installing the charge stations. These include hotels such as the Park Hyatt Sydney, The Darling, Hotel Realm Canberra, The Observatory in Port Macquarie and Rundells Alpine Lodge at Dinner Plain in Victoria.

Westfield shopping centres at Chatswood in Sydney and Chadstone in Melbourne are also planning to take part in the Program, while adding premium parking services for Model S owners.
