Tesla has confirmed with Australian customers that first deliveries of its new Model S sedan will begin in the second quarter of 2014.
One expectant buyer, who has had a sizeable deposit waiting on a Model S for nearly two years, confirmed the news with TMR this week.
The reader confirmed that while Australian reservation holders have been "in the dark" on delivery dates since Tesla closed its local office last year, the carmaker has at last begun to contact buyers.
Final pricing and specifications for Australia are still to be confirmed, but the carmaker has confirmed with reservation holders that more information will be released later this year.
For now, Tesla has told buyers it expects Australian deliveries of right-hand-drive Model S sedans to begin sometime between March and June.
Members of the enthusiast Tesla Forums community online have also reported similar phone calls in the UK, just weeks after Tesla opened its first European dealership in Norway.
It is understood that Tesla has scheduled an initial production run of 500 Model S cars bound for right-hand-drive markets, including the UK, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.
