Tata has added another small concept to the growing list emerging from this month’s Delhi Auto Expo, with the Design Concept Nexon.

The small crossover is built on the same X1 platform underpinning the new Bolt hatch and Zest sedan, both making their world debuts at the show.

Measuring 4000mm long, 1730mm wide, 1600mm high and with a wheelbase of 2540mm, Tata describes the five-door concept as a "modern, youthful, compact SUV".

Power comes from a 1.2 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, producing 81kW and 170Nm, while fuel consumption is listed at 5.7 l/100km.

The Nexon has a five-speed automatic transmission powering the front wheels, with “an electric option for 4WD operation” powering the rear wheels. The wheels are 17-inch in diameter.

Tata claims a top speed for the Nexon of 180km/h.

The Design Concept Nexon is just one of 18 new vehicles being showcased by Tata at the Delhi Auto Expo. Other vehicles include the Magic Iris electric van, the Add Venture minivan, a racing truck and two variations on the Tata Nano.
