Remember the Tata Nano? Unveiled to great fanfare in 2009, the budget-minded mini was to be India's version of the people's car.
Welcomed by huge demand in its home market, the range grew to include the Nano Europa, a higher-spec version aimed at Europe. Revealed not long after the regular version, the Europa has yet to make its showroom debut.
Two years on from its launch, an update to the Nano range has been announced, boosting the 624cc two-cylinder engine's power from 25kW to a huge 28kW.
The Nano's suspension has also been upgraded, there's a new anti-roll bar up front and an improved steering mechanism (no details here, but it's not power steering). Power-assisted brakes are now also standard across the three-variant range.
Inside there's a range of new fabrics and colours, and 10 new exterior colours have been added to the line-up. Tato has also blessed the base-model Nano Standard with an optional passenger-side exterior mirror.
Tata will be looking to the updated Nano to boost sales, which have slowed to a crawl in India. Early sales projections called for between 20,000 to 50,000 sales per month. Last month, Tata moved just 1200 of its Nano city cars.
