A fault with the braking system in Suzuki’s all-new Celerio hatch, discovered during a UK market test drive, has reportedly now been diagnosed.

The fault, which caused Autocar journalists to experience complete brake failure in two separate cars during performance testing, moved the carmaker to announce an immediate recall.

Likewise, the Celerio’s Australian launch, which was due to occur this month, has been delayed until the issue has been resolved.

Suzuki now reports that a fix has been found and all affected vehicles will be given a going-over in the weeks ahead.

"A rectification by Suzuki Motor Corporation is currently being implemented and delivery of modified brake components is expected in the coming weeks,” the company said in a statement.

"Safety is of the utmost importance to Suzuki and its expects to return vehicles to customers as soon as is possible. Suzuki would like to take this opportunity to apologise to its customers and also thank them for their understanding and patience regarding this issue."
