Citroen’s DS brand is in for a shake-up with six new models – including a bunch of SUVs - slated for launch by 2020.
DS already has an SUV model exclusive to the Chinese market but now European reports point to an all-new mid-size DS 3 SUV which could debut as early as next March at the Geneva Motor Show.
And there will be another compact SUV following not long afterwards.
Speculation points to a production version of the ‘Wild Rubis’ concept car (pictured) which Citroen/DS displayed at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2013.
According to a Citroen Australia spokesman, the local arm is yet to be informed of any details.
However the SUV is significant as its styling direction will be the springboard for a raft of future models as the DS brand heads towards an all-new lineup by 2020.
Expect all models to offer petrol and diesel powerplants - some with plug-in hybrid alternatives - while the all-electric vehicles will be in compact cars and compact SUVs.
We’re told the first all-new model – the volume-selling DS 3 – will launch late next year.
Also in 2019 DS will roll-out an all-new DS 5 sedan.
And 2020 will see the Luxury GT (based on the Numero 9 concept car) but this may be only for the Chinese market.
