Supercharged Honda CR-Z Confirmed For Production, UK Only

Honda's UK arm has played a significant role in the company's performance projects, most recently taking the lead on the Type R version of the Civic Hatch.

Now, the brand's British outpost has been given the green light to produce a supercharged version of the new CR-Z hybrid sports car, dubbed the CR-Z iCF.

Unlike the 'CTR' however, we won't see this one in Australia. Not for the time being, at least.

Inspired by the CR-Z Mugen concept revealed earlier this year, the performance-focused CR-Z iCF will offer British buyers the 'oomph' missing from the regular model, boosting power from 91 to 129kW.

While the Australian-delivered hatch offers a 0-100km/h time of 9.7 seconds, Honda and Mugen say the supercharged model will hit the ton in just 6.1 seconds.

"MUGEN Euro magic has created a super responsive yet eco-conscious model building on our sporting credentials and giving us the ability to compete in the "hot hatch" marketplace as we move into 2012," Honda UK's Martin Moll said.

The CR-Z iCF's additional guts comes courtesy of a supercharged strapped to a modified version of the car's 1.5 litre petrol engine, along with a custom induction system and tweaked computer.

Mugen says we can also expect to see a unique styling kit for the supecharged CR-Z, along with a handful of interior tweaks.
