North American media is reporting Subaru is on the front foot to address a drop in its reliability rating in the authoritative Consumer Reports publication and a number of recalls – including the global Takata airbags catastrophe.

2016 hasn’t been kind to Subaru in North America, as 100,000 vehicles with turbocharged engines were recalled last month – this on top of earlier recalls for the Tribeca, Legacy (Liberty) and Outback.

However the company is on-track for its eighth consecutive record sales year and is predicting annual sales of 750,000 vehicles in North America by 2021.
