Subaru Australia has announced the impending arrival of 300 new special edition performance models, all clothed in an eye-searing shade it calls Hyper Blue.
However while the Hyper Blue BRZ will be available in either manual or automatic flavour, the Hyper Blue WRX will only be available in conjunction with a CVT automatic.
Hyper Blue BRZs will also only be available with the heated leather/Alcantara Option Pack seats.
Pricing and full specifications for these special-edition models won't be announced until the official on-sale date of October 1, however Subaru Australia boss Nick Senior believes demand will be strong.
“We feel that like many other of our special edition colours in the past, these vehicles will be keenly sought after in the years to come," he said in a statement released today.
“There’s always massive interest in our sports special edition versions. Combine that with their proven track record of excellent retained value, and you have every reason to get the blues.”
So far this year, combined WRX and WRX STI sales have reached 1936 units - up 7.7 per cent year-to-date to the end of July compared to the same period in 2014. BRZ sales, however, are down 33.3 percent so far this year.
