Subaru BRZ Destined For Super GT300 Race Debut

Subaru's upcoming BRZ rear-wheel-drive coupe will star in the 2012 series of Japan's Super GT racing series, according to reports out of Japan this week.

Japanese website Response has posted an image from the Subaru Motorsport Magazine website that points to a GT300 debut next year.

The BRZ's debut in the GT300 class could also spell an end to the Legacy/Liberty Super GT car's career, making way for the sleek coupe.

The Legacy Super GT car's all-wheel-drive configuration and 224kW 2.0 litre boxer engine could also transfer to the BRZ, although Subaru has yet to confirm any details for its new racer.

The roadgoing production version of the BRZ will make its debut at next month's Tokyo Motor Show, but thanks to a run of leaks in the past month, there's little left to discover. Get all the BRZ and Toyota FT-86 details here.
