Subaru Australia has announced the introduction of a limited edition NR4 specification WRX STI. This FIA homologated model is specifically developed for motorsport use.
The package is designed to comply with the FIA’s new NR4 regulations, replacing earlier N4 and R4 classes. Buyers will additionally be able to select from a range of packages developed by Possum Bourne Motorsport.
Available purely for motorsport use, the NR4 is unable to be road-registered. Uniquely this model comes only with a 2.0 litre engine, in place of the 2.5 litre of the regular production WRX STI.
NR4 specification cars are eligible for use in FIA WRC2, ERC2 regional and progressive national championships. An approved roll cage will need to be fitted before competition use, but can be ordered for fitting during pre-delivery.
“These cars represent fantastic value for motorsport enthusiasts that want the amazing All-Wheel Drive advantage that has made WRX such a legend over the past 20 plus years,” Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior, said.
“Current production WRX and WRX STI have taken interest in these turbocharged legends back to the peak levels we saw in the late 1990s, and with that has come a whole new wave of interest in using them for motorsport activities.”
Currently stock is limited to 10 units, but further allocations may become available is demand outstrips supply. The WRX STI NR4 is priced from $38,000 and is available in a choice of white or WR blue.
