Subaru Australia has introduced a new STI sports pack for its turbocharged WRX range, offering a 30 percent saving compared to adding all three options separately.
Included with the pack is a front-lip under spoiler, a short-shift gear lever assembly and a flexible tower bar, all produced by Subaru tuning house STI.
Limited to 100 packs, the STI sports kit is priced at $1500 fitted, which Subaru claims as a combined saving of $650.
"The STI sports pack gives WRX owners the opportunity to customize their car with the peace-of-mind of Subaru factory production and warranty," Subaru Australia boss Nick Senior said.
New Subaru WRX On The Way?
A replacement for the ageing third-generation WRX is in development, although news of the new model is thin on the ground.
The look of the new model remains a mystery, with spy photos revealing only a 2012 Impreza-bodied mule with sports wheels, a bonnet intake and dual exhaust arrangements at the rear.
It is widely believed however that the new WRX will, for the first time, feature unique styling unrelated to the regular Impreza range.
A turbocharged version of the FA 2.0 litre boxer engine found in the BRZ/Toyota 86 twins is expected, but with a Subaru-specific direct injection system (unlike BRZ/86’s Toyota system).
A launch date for the new model remains unconfirmed, though late 2013 or early 2014 is expected.
