RANGE ROVER EVOQUE
Talk of a 'Grand Evoque' first surfaced in 2011, but a new report with Britain's Autocar suggests the carmaker is now well into the development stages of this new model.
The article points to a report by analysis group Bernstein Research, which says the new model - codenamed L560 - will launch in 2016.
It is believed the new Evoque model will be built on a version of the new lightweight iQ[Al] aluminium architecture underpinning the next generation of Jaguar models.
Combined with new 'Hotfire' four-cylinder engines currently in development, the new Evoque variant is expected to become one of Jaguar Land Rover's most economical models.
Reports in 2011 suggested a 300mm longer body than the regular five-door Evoque (itself only 10mm longer than the three-door), allowing for a third row and a seven-seat layout.
Land Rover is reportedly targeting around 80,000 sales of the 'Grand Evoque' each year, with prices in the UK starting at around £41,000 (AU$69,000).
The Evoque has proved a popular model for the brand in Australia, with 198 sold in September, and a year-to-date total of 1936 sales.
