SsangYong has pulled the covers back to reveal its latest concept at the Seoul Motor Show - the XAV, a small SUV.
Coming hot on the heels of the all-new Tivoli compact SUV, SsangYong hopes the new concept will enhance the carmaker’s image as something of an SUV specialist.
Those letters - XAV - stand (a little hopefully) for eXciting Authentic SUV. If you can still your beating heart a moment, you may be interested to learn that its "boxy" styling is designed maximise interior space, while maintaining small SUV external dimensions.
There's a ‘fake’ fuel tank at the rear doubling as a storage compartment for tools or for "outdoor activity equipment", while further storage spaces feature throughout the interior.
The interior also features squared-off styling elements, an infotainment screen, climate control air-conditioning and an iPad-style instrument display screen for the driver.
Power comes from a 1.6 litre engine matched with an automatic transmission, while an e-AWD system provides further drive for both front and rear wheels via electric motors.
The XAV also previews a future styling direction for SsangYong - not too dissimilar to the Tivoli mentioned before and based on a ‘retro’ interpretation of early Korando models.
