SsangYong has teased a pair of newbies set to take centre stage for the carmaker at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

The first is the XLV SUV, which is essentially an elongated Tivoli SUV and was previewed at last year’s Frankfurt show with the XLV-Air.

The extra metal is dedicated mostly to the rear end, which sees the XLV offer a third row of seats, bumping the tally to seven, and/or additional cargo space over the Tivoli.

Styling will also differ somewhat, with both front and rear bumpers setting it apart from the Tivoli along with an extra set of windows for the most rearward passengers.

For overseas markets, the XLV will share the Tivoli’s 1.6 litre diesel and petrol engines matched with manual or automatic transmissions - both six-speed.

Also at the SsangYong stand in Geneva will be a “midsized premium SUV” concept called the SIV-2.
