The Chrysler Group has dropped the first teaser image of the all-new Viper muscle car on its Facebook page, ahead of its New York Auto Show unveiling in April.

The image, which reveals little more than the fact that the the new model's styling will stay true to the original formula, follows news that the 2013 Viper will drop Dodge from its name.

Instead, the new snake will debut as the flagship model in the Chrysler Group's now-standalone SRT performance range, where it will likely be joined by new SRT-only versions of the division's current co-badged models.

Little else is known about the new Viper, although officials have promised that while the hero car will retain its raw driving experience, a suite of new driver aids will make it a genuine contender in the high-performance market.
