Smart has released images of what could be the closest look yet at its next generation of production models, this time in the shape of the Fourjoy concept.

This latest showcar wears the same perforated grille design featured on the recent For-Us and Forvision concepts, suggesting we could see a similar look when the new Fortwo and Forfour finally hit showrooms.

The Fourjoy also gets new headlights with a more production-friendly design, doing away with the large LED ring that framed the lamps of the earlier concepts.

This latest concept is likely to preview the new Forfour - as the four in its name suggests - although Smart has yet to offer any solid details.

Of course, some of the Fourjoy's features are unlikely to make it to market, namely the wide-open Moke-like body and the retro-futuristic seat designs.

Watch for more details to come at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show.
