Czech manufacturer Skoda has released the first sketches of the VisionS SUV concept ahead of its global unveiling at the Geneva motor show, where it will preview an all-new seven-seat SUV for the brand.

Measuring 4700mm long, 1910mm wide and 1680mm tall, the VisionS is roughly the same size as a Mitsubishi Outlander, the second-smallest seven-seat SUV presently on the market (the Nissan X-Trail is the most diminutive).

The VisionS is, in effect, the long-awaited "Snowman" SUV that's been rumoured for a number of years.

A production future is expected with an overseas on-sale date mooted for sometime in 2017. Its arrival in showrooms will at last allow Skoda to compete in the popular seven-seat SUV category.

It will sit above the Volkswagen Tiguan-based Skoda Yeti which has, up until now, been the only true SUV in the company's line-up. The Skoda Octavia Scout, though officially classed as a medium SUV, is a crossover by design and lacks a seven-seat capability.
