Volkswagen Group Australia has announced a recall for a long list of passenger and commercial vehicles related to the same potential issue with front seatbelt pretensioners.

The 2017 model year Volkswagen Tiguan, Golf, Scirocco, Passat,Transporter and Multivan, plus 2016 and 2017 model year Amarok have all been identified as vehicles targeted by the recall along with the 2017 model year Skoda Superb.

The recall is in response to the potential for variations in the propellant mixture of the seatbelt pretensioner propellant which could lead to the restrain system not triggering in an accident, increasing the risk of injury.

A total of 340 Volkswagen and seven Skoda vehicles are affected with both brands set to contact owners in writing to arrange an inspection and repair. Owners wishing to know more can contact their local dealer, or the Skoda Customer Call Centre on 1800 504 076 or Volkswagen Customer Care on 1800 607 822.
