Skoda Fabia R 5 Rally Concept Revealed At Essen Motor Show

Skoda has unveiled a concept version of its Fabia light car at the Essen Motor Show, as a preview to its newest rally racer.

Called the R 5, the concept’s name might be (even by accident) a cheeky reminder of the road-going Fabia RS performer.

Upon the unveiling of the regular Fabia at the Paris Motor Show, rumours suggested that a new RS version would not be part of Skoda’s future line-up.

Skoda’s current position on a new RS is unclear, but it seems the Czech carmaker’s rally competition plans are proceeding with gusto.

The R 5 has some big shoes to fill, with the current Fabia Super 2000 proving competitive on all rally surfaces with consistently high results since its 2009 debut.
