Volkswagen will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Scirocco II GTS this week, with the European launch of a special-edition Scirocco GTS.
Driven by the same 155kW 2.0 litre engine available with the regular European-market Scirocco (and a number of other VWs), the new GTS is largely a limited-run styling trip.
Inspired by the wild 70s, the new Scirocco GTS stands apart from the regular models with its combination black and red racing stripes, along with red mirror housings and a unique 18-inch wheels in front of red brake calipers.
Inside, there's the usual full-black colour scheme, matched with red contrast stitching and the classic golf-ball dimpling on the shift lever grip.
Australia
With the Australian arm sticking with the top-shelf Scirocco R, don't expect to see the limited-edition GTS on local roads.
