Tech giant Samsung has been given the green light by authorities in South Korea to begin testing self-driving cars on public roads.

The Korea Herald reports Samsung’s ‘deep learning’ technology is the focus of the test, which uses sensors, cameras and artificial intelligence to operate the vehicle autonomously.

Samsung is particularly interested in its software’s ability to handle changing weather conditions. 

The vehicle chosen to house the autonomous tech is an unspecified Hyundai - a company also granted permission by authorities to conduct tests of self-driving cars.
