American tuning house Saleen has pulled the wraps from its latest creation this week, in the form of the new Mustang-based S302.

The S302 package boosts the 5.0 litre V8 well beyond the US model’s factory-tuned 324kW and 542Nm, and comfortably eclipses the hero 5.2 litre V8 GT350R’s 373kW.

Thanks to a new twin-screw supercharger, high-flow fuel injectors and new ECU settings, the S302 punches out a mean 544kW and 812Nm of torque.

Other enhancements include an LSD, an upgraded suspension package, higher-grade rubber and big 381mm disc brakes at all four corners.

Saleen is far from the first to roll out a huge-power version of the new Mustang, of course, with Galpin recently revealing its own 541kW version, while Hennessy has prepared a 535kW take on the new coupe.

We shouldn’t expect to see any of those specific specials in Australia, although outfits like Harrop and Herrod are likely already preparing their own kits as we speak.

The new Mustang will hit Australia later this year, kicking off at $44,990 for the 2.3 litre turbocharged four-cylinder model and $54,990 for the 5.0 litre V8.
