Luxury marque Rolls-Royce has confirmed it will reveal a new convertible model in the coming year, ahead of a 2016 sales launch.

The convertible’s identity is yet to be confirmed, however it is expected to debut as a topless version of the still-new Wraith coupe.

It is already known that the new model will be known as a Drophead Coupe - the company’s term for convertible models with a sporting roofline - suggesting a ‘Wraith Drophead Coupe’ badge will appear.

“I am truly delighted to confirm today the development of our new model which will open an exciting new chapter in the great story of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars,” Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös said.

“We are currently developing an exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership.”
