In the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Dragon will commence on January 23, 2012. To celebrate this fact, and in honour of the booming luxury segment in the Asian markets, British luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce has announced a special new package.

Produced as part of the company's Bespoke range, the Year of the Dragon Collection is a commemorative package available in the Phantom line, offering a number of interior and exterior styling enhancements.

"At Rolls-Royce Motor Cars we delight in bringing new, exclusive designs to our customers", Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said.

"The Bespoke team elegantly captures the imagination with this Year of the Dragon Collection, celebrating the turning of a New Year of prosperity and good fortune with this unique creative offering."

On the outside, the limited-edition package makes its mark with a special handpainted gold coachline and a golden dragon motif directly above the Rolls-Royce badge on the front quarter panels.

Rolls-Royce says the design of the dragon, which always faces forward on both sides of the vehicle, was inspired by the Forbidden City in Beijing.

Inside, the stylised dragon appears on each headrest, in four thread colours: Tan, Golden Sand, Black and White. A dragon inlay is also featured in the passenger panel, with the Phantom name in gold below.

Trim options for the seats and other areas include Black, Consort Red, a darker Ardent Red and a light Moccasin leather.

In the rear is a pair of hand-stitched cushions with the iconic R-R logo, and in each door sill is a back-lit treadplate with "Year of the Dragon 2012" illuminated with LED lights.

As with all Rolls-Royce orders, interested buyers are sent a sample box with paint and leather swatches, and the recommended exterior colours for this collection include Infinity Black, Diamond Black, Black Ember and Deep Garnet.

Australia

In Australia, the Year of the Dragon Collection can be ordered through Trivett Classic, Authorised Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Dealer.

Speaking with TMR, Trivett Classic's Greg Duncan confirmed that the collection is available at $18,000 (excluding taxes), and orders can be taken now for October production and delivery after January 23, 2012.
