Reports in recent months of a new Skoda-badged SUV are building steam, and news in March that the company will produce a new model at its Czech plant could be the first hint of its coming.
Details on the new model have not been released, but the company has long been rumoured to be in the final stages of development for a new SUV model.
This week, a new amateur rendering has surfaced online, offering a look at how the new SUV - rumoured to be called 'Snowman' - might appear.
For his 'imagineering' project, DesignRM has crafted a high-riding model that takes its cues from the new Octavia wagon, along with Volkswagen's recent BlueCross concept.
But, looking more like an enlarged version of the new Octavia Scout, it remains to be seen if this rendering is an accurate preview of what's to come.
We could also see Skoda draw on the look of its recent VisionC four-door coupe concept, featuring a sharp new take on the brand's familiar front and rear-end styling.
A larger high-riding wagon would do much to boost Skoda’s global sales, with the SUV segment easily the strongest sector in most western markets.
Rumoured to be called ‘Snowman’, the new model is expected to enter the mid-sized SUV market, slotting into the Skoda range above the Yeti crossover.
Reports suggest the new model will be offered in five- and seven-seat configurations, with front- and all-wheel-drive options.
Watch for details on the new model to surface in the coming months.
