With the development of more versatile platforms, carmakers are increasingly exploring new niches to create model footprints that were unthinkable barely a decade ago.
Interest in the look appears to be building, and a spanish artist by the name of Auto Projeções has imagined two more likely suspects: four-door coupe versions of BMW’s new 2 Series and Merc’s new C-Class.
For the would-be 2 Series Gran Coupe, Auto Projeções has stuck with a simple recipe, stretching the new coupe’s roofline - and grabbing elements from the new 4 Series Gran Coupe - to accommodate a second pair of doors.
For the Mercedes, Auto Projeções has imagined a new rival to Audi’s A5 Sportback and BMW’s 4 Series Gran Coupe, tacking a flowing roofline and shortened tail onto the new C-Class sedan.
Such a model would sit below the big CLS flagship and above the coupe-like CLA sedan, offering a faster looking alternative to the regular C-Class.
The Mercedes, on the other hand… something tells us Mercedes will let that one lie.
