Renault's perky little Twingo Renault Sport has been given a makeover for the European market, following the unveiling last year of the regular model range.

Purely a styling exercise, the updated Twingo R.S. gets a new bumper design inspired by the larger Clio and Megane R.S. models, highlighting the performance offshoot's "F1-style blade" design and gloss black highlights.

As with the regular Twingo that debuted in its updated form last July, the R.S. variant gets a new headlight and grille design.

The Twingo R.S. remains unchanged mechanically, with power still drawn from the same 1.6 litre engine as before, and still delivering 98kW and 160Nm of torque.

The city-car sized hot hatch features relatively massive brakes, with 280mm discs up front and 240mm at the rear.

Australia

Will we see the Twingo R.S. in Australia? Not anytime soon, with the French carmaker's local arm focusing on its existing line-up.

With the Twingo into its fourth year on the market, it's likely we'll never see this model here. The next-generation Twingo however, which will share its platform with the new Smart Fortwo, could be a starter.
