Renault is preparing to unveil another new concept next month, on the heels of its recent Twizy RS F1 and Twin'Z show cars.

The new concept will bring the Twin'Z concept closer to reality, revealing a more market-friendly look at the car likely to become the next Twingo light car.

These latest teaser images also leave little doubt on the identity of the new concept, with the so-called TwinFun spied last month during filming in Spain.

What we've seen of the next Twingo - through the Twin'Z and the coming TwinFun - suggests the carmaker is planning to revive the retro appeal of the little Renault 5 of the 1980s.

Little has been revealed about the new Twingo, although it is known the light hatch will share its platform and mechanical package with Daimler's new Smart ForTwo.

If true, that means buyers can look forward to a rear-mounted engine setup and a rear-wheel-drive configuration.

In concept form, the Twin'Z is powered by a rear-mounted 50kW electric motor, drawing energy from a bank of four lithium-ion batteries beneath the floor.
