Renault has handed down a single teaser image of a new concept it will unveil at next week's Frankfurt Motor Show.

The carmaker has revealed little about the new showcar however, with only a single headlight and a portion of purple bonnet revealed.

For now, Renault has confirmed only that the concept will debut as a new "premium" model, suggesting it could be an opening salvo in the coming Initiale Paris range

it is also possible that Renault is planning a replacement for its Latitude sedan, a rebadged version of the Korean-market Samsung SM5 that has struggled for popularity in Western markets.

The teaser image hints at a long bonnet and a raked A-pillar, suggesting the new model could be a sleek four-door coupe. But, at this stage, it's anybody's guess as to what we can expect.

To its credit, Renault has had a strong run in the concept game over recent years, from the DeZir and Alpine coupe concepts to the Captur SUV and the R-Space people-mover.

This will be one to watch.
