Renault has released a new teaser clip of the enhanced Megane RS hatch it will use to take back its crown at the legendary Nurburgring track.
The French carmaker previously held the record with an 8:07.97 lap, but Spanish brand Seat stole the title earlier this year when its Leon Cupra 280 crossed the line with a remarkable 7:58 time to its credit.
Renault has since begun a campaign to restore order, teasing details of its ‘#UNDER8’ project that it hopes will result in a convincing - and lasting - victory at the Nurburgring.
The new special is expected to be known as the RS 275 R, boosting power to around 202kW - up from 195kW in the current RS 265.
A source familiar with the project told TMR last month that tweaks will include extensive weight-reduction measures, as well as an Ohlins suspension, Akrapovic titanium exhaust and track-spec Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres.
This latest video showcases the contributions of the Akrapovic team to the project, and we can likely expect similar clips highlighting the other partners.
Expect to hear more about Renault's (and possibly the world's) fastest hot hatch on June 16.
